Calling all PRH authors and creators with books published from 2019 to 2021! Please participate in our author survey, which is a key step in helping us to conduct an audit of our publishing programs. Your participation is invaluable to us as we work toward our goal of publishing books that more comprehensively reflect our society and the diverse communities of readers we serve.
This June, Penguin Random House reaffirmed its commitment to foster greater diversity and inclusion within our company and throughout the publishing industry. More concretely, we announced that, as part of our Diversity & Inclusion strategies, we will increase the number of books by people of color that we publish, promote, and sell.
In order to establish a baseline against which we can measure our future progress, we need to have a more complete demographic picture of our current population of authors and creators. To that end, we are conducting an in-house audit of our U.S. publishing programs.
To capture this snapshot of where we are currently, we are asking Penguin Random House authors and creators with books published from 2019 through 2021 to participate in a survey. This extends to authors and creators published by PRH’s U.S. imprints who reside outside the country and/or who do not hold U.S. citizenship.
Your help is crucial! If you received an email on Wednesday, September 16, from Penguin Random House with a survey request, we encourage to you complete the survey, if you have not yet done so. The survey is of course optional, and you may choose to respond to all or to any subset of the questions. The deadline is October 23, 2020.
If you have not received an email from Penguin Random House with a survey link, and have had new books published from 2019 to 2021, please contact us at portaladmin@penguinrandomhouse.com.
As authors and creators, your participation is invaluable to us as we work toward our goal of publishing books that more comprehensively reflect our society and the diverse communities of readers we serve.
To illustrate our progress and to hold us accountable to the public and to ourselves, we will be posting the demographic makeup of our authors and creators on our company website: PRH.com. The information will be disclosed in an anonymized and aggregated form, and will not be attributed to authors and creators individually.
