Building on the success of last year’s inaugural Year in Books campaign, we’re once again highlighting the biggest books of the year and the titles and authors that helped us get by.
This year’s campaign, Year in Books: 2022 Was Mixed Emojis, will acknowledge the range of (sometimes conflicting) emotions we’re currently feeling, highlighting the books that have provided entertainment, comfort, laughter, tears, understanding, and escape in the moments we needed them most. Like music, books help you feel—and whether you want to change your outlook or experience something more deeply, Penguin Random House has a book for you.
The campaign is anchored by ten mixed emotions, and for each, we’ve offered ten book recommendations, for a total of one hundred featured titles—some to ground you in the feeling, others to help you escape it. Either way, we think these books will get you through.
Each emotion will be represented with a custom emoji, because for feelings this mixed, 💩🤡🥴🤷🏻♀️💀 just won’t cut it.
