Becoming a published author for the first time is an incredible experience, but it can also be overwhelming and confusing. From learning about your book’s lengthy publishing timeline to setting yourself up for success in the months leading up to your launch, debuting can raise a lot of questions about just how everything works.
Since 2021, Author University has offered seminars where authors anywhere in their career could receive insight on various topics from fellow authors and in-house PRH experts. In 2022, we offered a “How to Debut” session, and heard from many of you that you would love more content directed at the debuting experience. So that year we kicked off our first annual Debut Cohort. Since then, we have helped more than 140 debut authors as they started their publishing journey.
Each cohort gathers for three sessions over the course of a year to gain debut-specific insights. These sessions include an overview of the steps in the publishing process, a workshop on how to pitch your book, and an “Ask Me Anything” session with PRH editors, marketers, and publicists. We also offer a social hour on Zoom for debut authors to connect, share contact information, and talk about their experiences.
